2016 LARRY'S LIVESTRONG LOOP
Larry G
11th Annual LARRY'S LIVESTRONG LOOP

Date: September 24, 2016

Time: 8:30am

Location: Central Community Center, Central, AL

Distance: 31, 44, and 62 mile options

Terrain: Mix of flats and rollers; three moderate climbs of about 3/4 mile each on the 62m route

Please join me on September 24 for the 11th annual edition of Larry's LiveStrong Loop -- a rolling celebration acknowledging those who have survived cancer, and a tribute to those who did not.

We'll begin and end at Central Community Center, about 10 miles northwest of Florence, Alabama (same venue as in previous years; driving directions are posted below). There are three distance options over smoothly paved roads that wind through scenic western Lauderdale County. All three routes are fully marked with large yellow arrows and are unchanged from previous years. As usual, country stores will provide the necessary facilities and places for riders to purchase snacks and drinks.

Pre-ride ceremonies will begin at 8:30am. All participants are requested to arrive early enough to be ready to go by this time. The three groups will roll off together at 9:00. Back at the community center following the ride, we'll have ourselves a bodacious BBQ blowout with all the fixin's. You'll have your choice of pulled pork or chicken sandwiches, along with beans, chips, soft drinks and bottled water, and dessert.

You don't have to be a cancer survivor or a member of Shoals Cycling Club to participate. And there is no charge whatsoever, for either the ride or the meal afterward. A donation of $20 or more -- 100% of which will benefit LiveStrong.org -- is suggested but is entirely optional. I host this event each fall as a celebration first and a fund raiser second. If you can give a little something -- great. If you can't -- come out and ride (and eat!) with us anyway.

We do need to get an accurate head count for the food service. If you are planning to attend, even tentatively, PLEASE post a reply to this thread or send an email to larrycgray@gmail.com at your earliest convenience. Indicate how many will be in your party (non-cycling spouses and significant others are welcome too!).

So bring yourself, and bring a friend. Pass the word; everyone is welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, September 24, and as always -- LiveStrong!
